Meet a Shaker No.6 - Aidy Boothroyd

  • If having both the current captain and physiotherapist of the England Parkinson's Walking Football team amongst our number wasn't enough, we are proud to announce that we have been recently joined by Aidy Boothroyd (left), manager of the England under 21 team between 2016-2021.
  • At club level, he was manager of Watford from 2005 to 2008. During his time with Watford, he was regarded as one of the best young managers in England. At the time of his departure, he was the youngest and the second longest serving manager in the division.
  • In March 2025, Aidy publicly revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's in November 2021 during a routine health check.
  • As well as playing, Aidy is bringing some new coaching ideas to the club, supplementing the great work of club coach Mike Palmer.
  • Like most of us, Aidy sometimes forgets the walking element of Walking Football and breaks into a sprint -  but he'll learn!

  • Great to have you on board, Aidy - especially when we are on the same side on Wednesdays!
